SHAVING TIPS

HOW TO LUBRICATE YOUR SAFETY RAZOR

Greasing your razor is not mandatory to work properly if you regularly clean it.

But you can prevent that the inside mechanism stucks due to accumulation of limescale or shaving dirt, that are impossible to remove from
inside with the cleaning methods mentioned above.

Organic olive or sunflower oil leaves solid waste with aging, becomes hard and produces jam in the mechanism.
There are some other greases (motor, bicycle, electronics) that can have solid consistency, and are not recommended for this little mechanism
of the safety razors, because over the years they can turn a little tough and block the mechanism partially.

To grease your razor you should use mineral oil (non-organic).

NEVER USE ORGANIC OIL

You should pay attention to this basic points:

1. HEAD

Lubricate the hole where the center bar mast inserts when the doors are closed..
Place the razor with the doors open and in a vertical position, insert a few drops (4 or 6) into the inner hole.
Wait till the drops get into the hole and pour some more oil.
Twist the knob of the handle to the left and right, closing and opening the doors.
Leave the razor in the upright position for a few hours so the oil can slide down and lubricate the entire piece
of the mechanism.

2. HANDLE

Lubricate the gap that joins the two parts of the handle (handle and tip).
The interior of this mechanism can not be cleaned, so it must be lubricated with a few drops.
Turn the handle (open and close the doors) until the oil penetrates (2 or 4 drops).
Put the razor upside down to let the drops get inside.
Do this lubrication whenever you see that the handle causes internal friction when turning it.
Sometimes the lime and dirt accumulates inside this gap and it can cause some noise of fricction,
you can feel that the twisting is not smooth and soft.

3. DIAL RING

Lubricate this element at the top (on the tab that makes click) and on the bottom (handle).
Leave the razor upside down and face up to let the drops get inside.
Turn the ring several times, to assure that it is well oiled.

4. KNOB

Sometimes this part accumulates some dirt or lime.
It can be a good idea to lubricate this area to avoid the accumulation of oxide or dirt, because it is
an area difficult to reach with the brush or cleaning tools. Oil will protect and keep this area free of dirt.

5. DOORS

It is not necessary to lubricate this elements.
The looseness of its parts it is enoguh to allow a good movement.
You just need to clean them wih a brush.
